Why we went

Brașov rewards the wanderer who likes a mountain at the end of the street. This is a few days of red roofs and Gothic spires, castles out in the hills, and long dinners of food built for cold weather, with the Carpathians always there in the background.

Brașov is small enough to feel by the second day.

Start in the old town, where the square, the church, and the narrowest street in the city are all a short walk apart. Save a day for the castles in the hills, and an evening for the cable car up Tâmpa when the light goes long. The mountains are the reason to linger.

Come with people who are happy to wander a square for an hour and call it a plan. Every place below opens straight into your Varde itinerary with a tap. Build a loose plan, then let Transylvania fill in the rest.
